Suggest replacing radiator since the tranny cooler is integral to the radiator. May need to flush cooling system. If there is water in the tranny fluid, the transmission fluid may need to be changed and the transmission flushed. If there is no water in the tranny fluid, everything else is probably OK.

If the transmission fluid hasn't been changed in 50,000-60,000 miles, this would be a good time to change the transmission fluid since you will be addiing fluid anyway to the transmission upon initial start-up to fill the fluid cooler part of the radiator when it is replaced. What ever you do, use the correct Chrysler transmission fluid (According to some literature I read, ATF + 4 is backward compatable with ATF+3) Do not use Dexron in most Chrysler 4-speed automatics unless you want to be looking for a rebuilt tranny.

Are you absolutely sure its transmission fluid? The coolant in my '02 is red just like tranny fluid. When I had a leaky coolant line going back to my rear unit, the first thing I though it was when I saw the drips and spot, was leaking transmission fluid. Like Chrysler Tech said, if you get one in the other you should see a separation or the milkyness of the water/oil emulsion. Take some out of the radiator and check itjust to make sure.

have checked the fluid in rad and it does look like a milkshake . I have also checked trany fluid on dipstick and that looks ok so i think it must just be getting into the rad not the other way around .Will look into changing the rad my self as i have got hold of the manual on cd but will have to think is it worth the hassle

Radiator @ a place like Autozone will run between $200 and $300 depending on which radiator you end up buying/ordering. labor is going to depend on where you live and the flat rate manhours is budgeted for removal and replacement of radiator and accessories.
