Default Chrysler Grand Voyager battery problem

Hello all, first post here and I'm hoping someone can help me!

I had a bumper repair guy out yesterday to repair a bumper repair crack on my '06 Grand Voyager. Unfortunately he had the boot open pretty much all the way through the 6 hour job and then didn't close the boot properly when he left. I didn't notice this until the next morning so effectively an interior light had been on for 24 hours.

I have a battery charger and want to give this a go before buying a new battery. Can anyone tell me if the battery has to be completely disconnected from the car or if I can charge it through the connection terminals? I would rather do it with the terminals still attached but want to check before I do so.

Hope someone can help me!

Thanks,

Ian.

Leave eberything as it is...Hook up the charger, Start the vehicle, drive it around for 15 minutes, and then try to restart it.....

Killing a battery like that will ONLY REQUIRE REPLACEMENT IF IT WAS JUNK TO BEGIN WITH...... I wouldnt worry too much.....

Cheers for that although I have some extra info on this. I had it hooked up to my neighbours van earlier with some heavy duty jump leads. Zero luck with this, a few lazy engine turn overs and very slow closing of one of the windows. I'm assuming this means that the battery may be screwed anyway? The dashboard needles reset themselves a few times in the process as well. Would a jump from another vehicle normally result in some sort of life in the other battery?

I'm kind of thinking I should just buy another battery rather than faff around any longer.

A brand new battery will become discharged if a light is kept on for a long period of time. Your battery being “dead” or discharged is , by itself, no indication that it requires replacing. You can safely charge your battery without disconnecting the car. Just observe proper polarity, i.e. Red to positive and black to negative. Small chargers typically take 10-18 hours to fully charge a battery so do it overnight.
